Lucas grew up in a small town just 30 minutes North of Nashville, TN. Having played in bands for most of his childhood, he knew early on that music was going to be a lifelong journey. In 2012, he moved to Nashville and started studying at Belmont University. During this time, Lucas began producing demos for friends and fellow classmates and picking up weekend gigging opportunities wherever he could find them.
Lucas began touring part-time in 2014 as a multi-instrumentalist playing for Nashville based singer-songwriter Jill Andrews. Later he would go on to play with artists such as Jordy Searcy, Crystal Bowersox, Hush Kids, Sandra McCracken, Joy Oladokun, Mat Kearney, Matthew Perryman Jones, and Taylor Leonhardt among others.
In 2017, Lucas decided to shift his focus primarily toward studio production and writing. He teamed up with friend, collaborator, and session drummer Will Sayles in a joint studio that saw the recording of several defining projects. During the next two and a half years, Lucas produced many records including Jordy Searcy’s “Dark in the City” and “Love? Songs” as well as Jill Andrews’ “Thirties”.
In 2020, Lucas moved his studio to the much beloved Art House Studios in Bellevue, TN. He worked out of the B Room for a year and a half and produced records such as Taylor Leonhardt’s “Hold Still”, Jon McLaughlin’s “All the Things I Say to Myself”, and Jordy Searcy’s “Daylight”.
